Gulisi Garifuna Museum
On November 18, 2004, National Garifuna Council and the National Institute for Culture and History (NICH) were pleased to officially open the Gulisi Garifuna Museum at the monument site.. The museum was constructed with funds from the Taiwanese Government, the Government of Belize and other donors.
The museum offers a full multimedia experience for the visitor. You will learn the origins of the Garifuna people, their history and customs.

The museum is named after Gulisi, a Garifuna heroine who survived being exiled from the island of St. Vincent. Gulisi came with her 13 children to Belize and founded the settlement of Punta Negra (a small village in the Toledo District).
